Justin Levine

Justin Levine is a New York-based composer, arranger, music supervisor, and performer working across theater, music, and film/TV. He currently has two shows running on Broadway, including The Outsiders, which won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical. For his work on the production, Justin received three Tony nominations—for Best Original Score, Best Book, and Best Orchestrations. His other show, currently running, is Moulin Rouge! The Musical, based on the film by Baz Luhrmann, which earned the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2021, as well as Best Orchestrations for Justin. It has additional productions in London, Germany, the Netherlands, Seoul, Tokyo, and touring companies in North America and Europe. His most recent project is a collaboration with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, serving as his arranger/music producer for Hamlet Hail to the Thief, which is directed by Christine Jones and Steven Hoggett at The Factory in Manchester as well as The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Other notable projects include Here Lies Love, an immersive pop opera by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim (Broadway, Public Theater, National Theatre, Seattle Rep, MASS MoCA), A Midsummer Night’s Dream for New York’s Shakespeare in the Park (Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Music in a Play), and unique collaborations like Vevo x Lorde: Melodrama (conceived by Lorde at Electric Lady Studios) and Contemporary Color (conceived by David Byrne at Barclays Center). Justin is also serves as Music Director for the Met Gala, where he has collaborated with many artists including Jon Batiste, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Lizzo, Baz Luhrmann, David Byrne, Leslie Odom Jr., and Our Lady J, to name a few.

When he is not making music, Justin spends as much time as possible in nature, usually in the garden. He is thrilled to be included in this incredible gathering of artists and thinkers.
